Easter Egg: Show more @live.com or @live.ca and more email domains using Safari and Javascript

It was reported long ago that this Javascript trick does not work anymore. Well, just for heck of it, I tried it using Safari 3 and the easter egg for showing more @live email domains still works.

Here’s how:

  1. Open up your Safari 3 browser on your Mac (haven’t tested on Windows)
  2. Visit this link http://get.live.com/getlive/overview
  3. Click the “Sign Up” button
  4. On the Address Bar, enter this Javascript code:

javascript:function r(q){} function s(q){e[q] = new Option(a[q],a[q])}; r(e = document.getElementById(‘idomain’).options);r(d=’live.’);r(a = new Array(d+’com’,d+’com.au’,d+’be’,d+’ca’,d+’co.uk’,d+’de’,d+’fr’,d+’it’,d+’nl’)); for (i=0;i<a.length;i++){ s(i ) }alert(‘Success – additional domains added!’);

Press ENTER.

You should now see the confirmation alert that you have successfully added additional domains (see below):

Click OK and off you go. You should now see the available domains for you to choose from.

Currently the available domains are:

  • Live.com
  • Live.com.au
  • Live.be
  • Live.ca
  • Live.co.uk
  • Live.de
  • Live.fr
  • Live.it
  • Live.nl

Pretty cool huh? ;)

Enjoy!

I tried it on Camino, didn’t work.
Tried on Opera, Flock and Firefox, didn’t work.

So I guess Safari only on Mac. ;)

Doesn’t work in Safari Windows. :(

It doesn’t work anymore… :( I used Safari on Mac… The Javascript works but when I submitted, it said that there was a problem with MSN’s servers… :/

    But…

    http://www.pctipsbox.com/you-can-register-your-livecom/

There are the links to register any @live.XX ! :) So far, I registered an e-mail @live.ca and @live.it . There was an error after registering the @live.it e-mail but it now works! :) But you have to enter a zip code of the country from which you want to register your @live.XX account (for Italy, I used Torino, 10100).

It seems like they removed the easter egg (or bug) already. :(

Actually it still works.. Ive been having trouble with Firefox 3 trying to get a new live.co.uk id. it says that they are trying to fix it or somethin.. then i tried it on Internet Explorer.. TADA.. there goes my new ad..but yeah.. im from Maldives.. and how i would love to get a live.mv id.. i did get one.. but Email functions dont work.. is there a walkaround to it or somethin??

Summary.. Microsoft wants to make IE the best browser and keep it at the top.. so they coded the signup page so that u can submit only using IE.. be it IE5 IE6 or IE7.. and not Firefox1,2,3.. not safari.. not opera.. not netscape.. and there goes the neighbourhood…
