Star Wars hologram communication now a reality

Remember Star Wars’ Princess Leia’s hologram communication with Obi-wan? Yeah, that was like more than 20 years ago. Now that technology is not science fiction anymore.

Cisco just unveiled their newest product On-Stage TelePresence Holographic Video Conferencing. It’s very cool and it brings out the inner geek in us.

You have to really watch this video to believe it!

“SingTel confirms iPhone for Singapore, India, the Philippines and Australia.

In a singularly uninformative press release, SingTel, Singapore’s largest telecommunications company, has announced that it is bringing the iPhone to “Singapore, India, the Philippines and Australia later this year” through several subsidiary carrier brands: SingTel, Bharti Airtel, Globe and Optus.

The latter confirms our earlier post that Aussies won’t be limited to Vodafone for their iPhone needs. Unfortunately no dates or pricing have been announced; it seems safe to assume this will cover the forthcoming 3G iPhone. In any case, this is good news for some of our Asia / Pacific iPhone brethren.”

Still nothing for us over here.

Apple iPhone doubles storage still nothing for canucks

Apple upgraded and rolled out upgraded iPhones and iPod touches. Ok cool! This is good news for US and Europe. But Apple forgot that there is a country called Canada. Hint: it’s very near US.

Sigh!

I guess we won’t have to slash our throat like some poor consumer who just bought an iPhone… like… last week. Being an early adopter sucks sometimes (if not most of the time).

The new iMacs are now made from aluminum and glass (scratch resistant) just like the Mac Book Pros. And they come with glossy displays.

Also, iMacs will now only be in 2 sizes (20″ and 24″ inch displays), making the 17″ obsolete as well as the combo-drive (aww!). With it, they are also shipping with the new 0.33″ cool keyboard, so thin you think you are using a laptop.

New versions of iLife ’08, iMovie, iWeb, .mac, Magic GarageBand, iWork and iPhoto also out. A new product for iWork, “Numbers” was also introduced as a competitor for Microsoft Excel.

iLife ships with the all new iMacs free.
