Major screw-up for today: LifeLock CEO Todd Davis got 0wnd

May 26th, 2008 3 Comments »

Sometimes, you got to hire the best hustlers out there to test out your product first before showing your social security number on a van.

Here’s a story of LifeLock’s CEO Todd Davis who got owned by someone.

“Turns out someone stepped up to the plate and won. An attorney found at least 20 instances of people applying for and sometimes receiving driver’s licenses in Davis’s name. In one case, a man from Texas got $500 from a loan company on Davis’s credit line.”

What is LifeLock? According to them LifeLock is the industry leader in the rapidly growing field of Identity Theft Protection.

Egghub Zeitgeist and the Increased Free Disc Count from 500 to 2,000 Discs

May 25th, 2008 No Comments »

Aside from pushing a Zeitgeist this week for our user’s collective consciousness, we’ve also increased the number of free discs from 500 to 2,000.

This member obviously made us think that some people nowadays takes it to the extreme and have more than 500 discs in their collection.

zeitgeist

The last time we pushed the Zeitgeist most users only have an average of 100 discs. That average increased to 230 in just 1 week!

Over at Egghub, we strive to have at least 1 small update each week. We call this mini release. The goal of a mini release is to deliver important bug fixes to the user-base and keep on improving the service with minimal changes/downtime.

Hope you like it and expect more to come.

Cruizin 101: Test Driven Development (TDD) for the Masses

February 29th, 2008 No Comments »

Test Driven Development for the Masses
by Andre John Tamayo Cruz

About the Speaker

Andre John Cruz aka cruizer is a Microsoft MVP for Visual C# and an Administrator for PHPUGPH.com.  His day job is an Application Developer for Barclays Capital Singapore.  He is an avid FOSS enthusiast, and also an active participant in various user communities in the Philippines, both Microsoft and non-Microsoft oriented.  He is known as a proponent of the test-driven development (TDD) practice in the .NET world and has spoken a few times about the topic in recent Philippine MSDN events.

About the Topic

Test-Driven Development (TDD) is a software development technique consisting of short iterations where new test cases covering the desired improvement or new functionality are written first, then the production code necessary to pass the tests is implemented, and finally the software is refactored to accommodate changes. The availability of tests before actual development ensures rapid feedback after any change. Practitioners emphasize that test-driven development is a method of designing software, not merely a method of testing.  It combines test-first development where you write a test before you write just enough production code to fulfill that test and refactoring.   The primary goal of TDD is specification and not validation.  In other words, it’s one way to think through your design before your write your functional code.  TDD is also a programming technique; the goal of which is to write clean code that works.
