I just installed Xobni (inbox backwards) and I found it very useful. I can’t really put a word on the application but it’s like placing Google search, analytics, but for your email. It’s cool!
Xobni extracts bits of useful information on your emails and place them conveniently on the sidebar (if you are using Outlook). Some of them are phone numbers, attachment discovery, threaded conversations, related persons, email count per person and ranking, and more.

There are a lot more features but I’d let this page tell you more about it.

We were developing something similar (but online version) under the codename Udeko (now known as Xackup) almost 4 years ago. It never came to production because we had to shift to other business models - backup.
I still personally like to finish that sometime soon if and when time permits and if my team is still up for it.

Live.com is out of beta and is now offering free @live.com and @live.ca email address. Ok, its not that you will use it (there’s always Gmail), but it’s better to get your name before a spammer does. And oh, don’t forget to check it once every 120 days so that the account stays active. Give yourself a reminder using Google Calendar to “check @live.com email address”.

Also, don’t worry if you have multiple Windows Live ID. You can easily link them using their own tool. Go to “Settings” > “Manage Linked IDs” to acheive this. Pretty cool. Get all your IDs and link them now.

The Windows Live Mail app (if downloaded) allows email account integration between popular email providers such as Gmail and AOL.
Windows Hotmail Live is still 5GB (previously 2GB) with loads of graphical ads. Visit it now and get your @live.com address before it’s gone and taken by a spammer.

ADrive is offering 50GB (note: gigabytes not megabytes) of free online storage and backup. On their website, their upload can accomodate 2GB at a time (haven’t tried it).
MozyHome Free has offered only 2GB of free backup storage over the past year. However, they have a very slick upload software tool that is both available for the Windows and Mac users.
ADrive on the other hand still has to offer at least one upload client.

ADrive website seems to be still bare and the web app doesn’t yet have help tips and FAQs in place. Even the About page doesn’t clearly say who they are. That is sometimes a limiting factor to trust where your uploaded files go.
Anyways, why don’t you go and try it out.

The fastest Windows Vista notebook we’ve tested this year is a Mac. Try that again: The fastest Windows Vista notebook we’ve tested this year–or for that matter, ever–is a Mac. Not a Dell, not a Toshiba, not even an Alienware. The $2419 (plus the price of a copy of Windows Vista, of course) MacBook Pro’s PC WorldBench 6 Beta 2 score of 88 beats Gateway’s E-265M by a single point, but the MacBook’s score is far more impressive simply because Apple couldn’t care less whether you run Windows.
Here’s a quick walk-through using Thunderbird 2.0 to download emails from GMail on your private computer.
1) Download the latest Thunderbird 2.0

2) Install Thunderbird, then launch the application (a wizard should popup during the 1st run. Choose Tools >> Account Settings >> Add Account to launch if using an old install.)

3) Enter your name andGMail username (name before the @gmail.com)

4) Click Next and select Finish

5) Enter your GMail password and you are done!

Thunderbird should download your emails from GMail.com immediately. If you have a large inbox, you will have to wait a little bit longer to complete downloading all your messages.
If you prefer to use IMAP. Refer to this help document from Google.
Hope this small tutorial helps.

Social.fm has been getting a lot of press lately and I’ve decided to try it out. It’s not bad. Actually it’s ok. But it doesn’t yet have the following of Last.fm.
One notable thing is the player, its not working on the Mac and Linux platform yet (ungh!). Only works for Microsoft Windows as of now (why?). Tried it on Ubuntu and it asked me to download a plugin - it didn’t work.
Music list and discovery is ok, not that great but getting there. User Interface is ok, the cover-flow look-alike bothers me , it is flaky. It keeps on popping items while you are at it.
The music also stops in the middle of the song and jumps on the next available one. Don’t know why that happen.
Failed to impress me but I guess it’s worth the visit. Check it out.

No IM clients on the list.

Is that picture really worth that much?

Seasonal? I, me and myself have not visited facebook in weeks.
I’ve used both Apple and Dell. As a consumer, I’d go with a Mac (simplicity sells). On the corporate side, I’d go with a Dell (Apple isn’t as seriously focused as PCs when it comes to business applications).

Over at ifxplus.com.
At CAD $799, this is obviously over-priced. Apple’s got to be kidding eh? This is exactly what happens when there’s little competition on the market.
